I’ve been coming here for a few years and seen lots of vets come and go. I’ve had generally good experiences. I’m not sure if I’ll return after my appointment today though.\n\nI went in to have a bump on my dog inspected. I figured it would be pricier because the doctor suggested bloodwork and sampling, so I was confused when we left the room without having a cost breakdown done like normal. The staff at the front desk then told me my bill was over $800. Surprised, I asked for a breakdown of charges. They seemed surprised I asked. They called a vet assistant over to explain it. The vet assistant was immediately unfriendly became visibly frustrated as I asked questions to understand why undiscussed types of bloodwork were needed. I asked if any of the bloodwork we’d done a few months prior had overlap. I asked why the overlap wasn’t enough for diagnosing what we needed to. They explained this new bloodwork was more extensive and ultimately the bare minimum needed for ‘the charge package’.\n\nI get prices being more than I expected. But I don’t get being treated like an annoyance for asking questions to know if everything was necessary. I don’t know why I wasn’t given a breakdown of service costs before they’re administered like I usually am. If I’d have known, I would have asked about my other options. When I was told, it was already too late. I love my dog to the moon and back and will take on as much credit card debt as needed, but that was half of my rent without warning.
