I’m extremely disappointed with my most recent experience at Dirty Dog on Guadalupe.\n\nI previously believed I had good experiences here, but after learning more about the facility and comparing it to other grooming locations, I will not be returning.\n\nThere is no outdoor area for dogs to use the restroom. Boarding appears to take place in one small room, and grooming is done out in the open near the daycare area where multiple dogs are in one room. After seeing other facilities that provide private grooming spaces and grass areas for dogs to relieve themselves, this setup was concerning to me.\n\nThe most upsetting part was my last visit. They kept my dog for 3.5 hours. I had to call them to check in, and only then was I told they hadn’t groomed him because he was “barking too much.”\n\nMy dog is typically very calm and has never had behavioral issues at other grooming facilities. If they weren’t grooming him, I don’t understand why he was kept there for that long without communication.\n\nLooking back, I now realize that every time I picked him up from Dirty Dog, he was trembling. At the time, I brushed it off. After switching to another groomer, the difference in his behavior was immediate and noticeable. He came out relaxed, excited, and happy — completely different from how he acted after leaving Dirty Dog.\n\nAnother groomer even commented that his nervous behavior appeared consistent with stress from prior grooming experiences. That was extremely upsetting to hear.\n\nWhether intentional or not, something about this environment caused my dog significant stress. That alone is enough reason for me to never return.\n\nI hope they seriously re-evaluate their communication practices and the environment in which they board and groom dogs.

Wow, I was a hot mess coming in with a toddler and my small dog on a walker/should be knee scooter to wash my dog. But I figured it beats kneeling on the floor in a splint to wash my dog on thanksgiving. They helped me put her in the bathtub and held her for me to clip her back nails. I used just their regular stock shampoo and she is the softest wire haired dog!!! I have never felt her softer than she is right now!!!! I need to know what shampoo that is!!! The girls there were soo sweet as well; helped me with everything I needed. I have always been one to bathe at home and do my own grooming, even had my own grooming business in the past. But I thought I would try a dog wash for the first time! I'm sure glad I did.

Waste of time. I made an apt for grooming and day care but when I got there they said they couldn’t do day care, (which I had planned my entire workday around!). Then after I dropped my dog and left, not five minutes later they called and said they wouldn’t be able to do the grooming either. My dog is a nervous puppy and they did nothing to try to take care of him or make him comfortable, like other professional groomers have done. They just IMMEDIATELY gave up. It seemed like they just didn’t want us there like they had better things to do that afternoon or something. Luckily I took him to Petco and got him groomed same day and for less than half the price!go somewhere else.

Took my chi mix here and we used the self revive station. Sam helped us and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We used the privacy tub since..chihuahua lol and it was super easy to use once Sam explained it. Loved the eye and ear wipes by the tub. He got a little spritz of cologne and just look at this handsome man. :) definitely recommend this facility for self wash.

I will never take my dog back to this specific location. I had my dog groomed this past Friday (10/7/22) and after getting him home found nicks and razor burn all over his private and even his face. He can barely walk or stand up, let alone go outside. I called the shop on Saturday (10/8/22) and talked to the groomer who acted like it was normal for these types of injuries to be a result of grooming, yet I never had these issues at the South Lamar location once. My dog will probably never trust another groomer as a result and this experience has ruined grooming for him altogether. If the groomer didn't know what they were doing they should have stopped and if my dog wasn't cooperating they should have also stopped and called me, but neither of those concerns were brought up on the phone I had with the groomer on Saturday (10/8/22). Absolutely horrible experience and will never come back or refer anyone to this business as a whole as a result. Even with the good grooming experiences I've had in the past with the South Lamar locations, it was still a horrible experience in terms of customer service. The layout of the grooming locations are awful, they are always understaffed and it takes forever for anyone to come to the front to receive your dog, and the groomers are hidden in the back in what appears to be a low quality property. These are now allred flags I should have avoided but since the prior services were never this monumentally bad I overlooked them, but I would rather future costumers didn't have the same experience if possible.
