My husband and I recently left our dog, Butters, in the care of CityDog Ballard over the Labor Day weekend while we were away. Our experience with this dog daycare was nothing short of distressing.\n\nOne of the most troubling aspects of our time at CityDog Ballard was the shocking lack of care and supervision provided for the dogs. We were startled to discover that the facility left all the dogs confined to spaces without any personnel inside to monitor them. While we understand that interactions between dogs can sometimes lead to conflicts, this does not excuse the complete absence of staff to ensure their well-being, comfort, and safety. Our initial "greet and meet" experience did not align with what we observed on the dog cameras. From the footage, it was evident that the dogs were visibly stressed and bored in these enclosures, raising concerns that they were not receiving the mental and emotional stimulation they require.\n\nAnother issue that deeply troubled us was the limited access to water. CityDog Ballard provided only one water bowl within each enclosed area, which is inadequate for the health and comfort of our furry companions. Upon retrieving Butters, we noticed that he was unusually thirsty and consumed an excessive amount of water upon returning home. This raised significant doubts about the care he received at the facility. Were they neglecting his basic need for hydration by leaving him without access to water for extended periods? This is utterly unacceptable and reflects a negligent approach to pet care.\n\nFurthermore, the lack of communication and updates regarding Butters' activities during his stay was incredibly frustrating. Unless we initiated contact with CityDog Ballard, they failed to provide any information about our dog's well-being or daily routine. It was evident that the staff were not investing quality time in bonding with the dogs under their care.\n\nThe most alarming aspect of our experience is the negative impact on Butters' health. Since his return, he has displayed troubling symptoms of itchiness and swelling in his lips and paws. Prior to his stay at CityDog Ballard, Butters was a happy and energetic pup. However, in just 4 and a half days, he has transformed into a lethargic and unwell dog. We were compelled to schedule a veterinarian appointment immediately, as his condition strongly suggests negligence on the part of CityDog Ballard.\n\nOur experience with CityDog Ballard was deeply disappointing and troubling. For the sake of your pets, please explore alternative options for boarding and daycare services.

I know this place is closing soon, but still wanted to get this out. A couple years ago now probably, my dog went in for a groom, they straight up forgot about him after he was done. We got worried enough to show up in person, a couple hours after the expected grooming duration. Then they finally remembered, oh, we never notified you. Oops.

Awful awful experience from walk in to walk-out. Horrible haircut on my pup and wayyyy overpriced. I only used this place because my normal goomer was out of town and needed something fairly quickly. Big mistake. Huge.\n\nI highly recommended people research smaller businesses in the city that put more attention to their clients and not just trying to love to the next. Downtown Dog Lounge is highly suggested.
