What pet parents say

Our experience with Dogtopia was a mix of highs and lows. The meet and greet day was excellent, Ava was incredibly attentive, engaged with the dogs, kept the area clean, and even provided a thoughtful end-of-day report. Her professionalism gave me real confidence in the facility, and I left feeling excited about bringing my dog back.\n\nUnfortunately, our second visit was a different story. The room attendant didn’t introduce herself, provide any updates, or show much engagement at all. I observed several urine and feces messes left unattended, which other dogs walked through, creating a bigger hygiene issue. Worse, the attendant appeared distracted and spent long periods on her company phone. I was informed by Gloria that this is how they receive pet updates.\n\nWhat upset me most was that I had made it very clear—multiple times—that my dog has never been crated and I did not want him placed in a cage. I specifically requested he nap in one of the spa suites, as shown to me during the tour. Despite this, he was left in a cage, barking nonstop, something he's been trained not to do and hasn't done in years. Even after I called to have him moved, it took nearly 20 minutes, and he was still later placed back in a cage.\n\nOne thing I will say is that the room cameras are a great feature when everything’s going well, it’s fun to see your dog enjoying themselves. But they can also be a double-edged sword when things aren’t going as expected. Watching your dog in distress while in the care of others is heartbreaking.\n\nHe’s not just a pet, he’s the only child I will have. I expect him to be treated with the same care, attention, and respect he gets at home. Had Ava been attending him again, I truly believe the outcome would have been completely different.\n\nFollowing this visit, I received an email asking how his first week went. I shared my concerns, and later that day I received a thoughtful call from a team member, Gloria. She explained that spa suites are typically reserved for older dogs or those with special needs and acknowledged that this wasn’t properly communicated. She also informed me that my notes from the meet and greet were not added to his file, but promised to update them for the future.\n\nWhile I appreciated Gloria’s follow-up and professionalism, the inconsistency in care and communication makes it hard to feel comfortable returning right now. For now, we’re staying home, where I know my dog is safe, clean, and comfortable.\n\nI hope Dogtopia takes this feedback seriously. Pets are family they deserve consistent, attentive, and respectful care every single visit.

Summary: My experience with this facility has been extremely disappointing, concerning, and unacceptable. I was charged multiple unexplained fees over several months. I repeatedly complained about the lack of cleanliness and supervision, which directly affected my dog and led him to develop a serious habit of eating poop. They overcharged me for overnight boarding and even FAILED TO FEED MY DOG during his stay. When I complained, they were quick to send me their policies and parent agreement, but when I asked what happens when they fail to do their job, they stopped responding.\n\nFull context: I am extremely disappointed by my experience with this facility after they took advantage of the trust and love I had placed in them...\n\nFirst, for months, I was charged multiple unexplained fees of more than $30, and it was only after I complained that they finally issued a refund. That means that if I had not caught it myself and spoken up, they would have simply kept my money. That alone shows a serious lack of transparency and accountability.\n\nSecond, I complained multiple times that the rooms were not being cleaned quickly or properly, and this lack of cleanliness and supervision directly affected my dog. My dog developed a serious habit of eating poop while under their care, and instead of handling it properly, the situation escalated to the point where my dog ended up vomiting poop in an extremely alarming way. What makes it worse is that they were not even informing me when he was eating poop. Again, if I did not ask, they would not tell me. In my opinion, they were avoiding telling me because my partner had already complained about the same issue and had asked why this kept happening. I have seen and experienced (AND SEEN through the cameras) enough to say that they walk around urine and feces multiple times before anyone actually decides to grab a mop and clean.\n\nThird, I left my dog there for two nights and was quoted around $100. I trusted what I was told in person at the Tempe location, and because I had a specific budget, I decided to leave him there. However, after the two nights were over, I was charged close to $166. At no point was I properly informed that dogs who are regularly enrolled are charged one price, while dogs who are not enrolled in a plan are charged a completely different price. They later said, and I quote, “coaches focus primarily on the dogs, sometimes they are unaware of the differences that apply from dog to dog.” However, they have a computer system with the information for every dog and every dog parent, and the employee who gave me the quote could have simply checked my dog’s profile or asked whether he was enrolled before giving me an incorrect price. They were not transparent about the pricing from the beginning, and I feel misled, taken advantage of, and disrespected as a customer who had an inquiry about a new service. They had no problem going over my budget and charging me an amount I was not clearly told about beforehand. Yet, when I complained, they were very quick to send me their clauses and parent agreement to justify themselves.\n\nBut my final point is that during those same two nights, they failed to feed my dog, making him vomit once we were back at home, from having an empty stomach for a long period of time. So I asked them to send me the clauses explaining what happens when they fail to do their job, and after that, they stopped responding. This facility needs to take real accountability instead of hiding behind agreements only when it benefits them.\n\nBased on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone who expects transparency, proper supervision, cleanliness, or basic care for their dog.

chanel has been going here since 2023, she has been in the best care even with changes in staff, the quality of care has not changed. I feel so grateful to be able to trust multiple employees with the proper care of my dog. I can tell they care for her so well.!

The staff are just fantastic! They treat our pup like family. Easy to communicate with, they always start with a text (so we're not interrupted at work). They have a lot of add-on activities, if that's your thing (or your dog's), but it's never a hard sell, always a suggestion. Our husky is a shy girl and being here has brought her out of her shell and helped her be a better friend at dog parks. Super-convenient location. And love that they'll wash, de-shed and dry her, too!
