This was my second year doing snake avoidance training with my dog, Poppy, through Canine Moxy and once again it exceeded expectations. Kris Tait, the trainer was extremely knowledgeable and patient — he spent real time with both of us, helping me understand what was happening at every step. His approach with Poppy was calm, clear, and effective, and you could tell he genuinely cares about getting it right and keeping dogs safe.\n\nThe course also included a thorough and eye-opening education session led by Brent Ormond of Snakes of Hays County, who is an expert on native Texas snakes and a seasoned snake wrangler. Brent broke down what we needed to know about venomous snakes in the area — how to identify them, where they tend to show up, how they behave, and what to watch for. It was direct, informative, and incredibly helpful. You can tell Brent knows his stuff and knows how to communicate it in a way that sticks.\n\nBrent and his team of trained, certified snake wranglers were on-site and actively working with live snakes while Kris focused on guiding the dogs. Everyone was professional and clearly experienced, and the safety measures in place were strong and reassuring.\n\nBy the end of the session, I felt much more confident — both in Poppy’s ability to recognize and avoid snakes, and in my own understanding of how to keep her safe. If you live anywhere snakes might be an issue, this training is more than worth it. Clear instruction, expert knowledge, and a team that knows what they’re doing from start to finish.\n\nHighly recommended.

I can’t recommend Kris at Canine Moxy enough! We have two large rescue dogs with their quirks, and we wish we would have gone to Kris way sooner. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and works with each dog as an individual—really getting to know them, loving them, and helping us read their unique signals so we can work through and overcome barriers. If you need training for your pups—or even more confidence for yourself—I highly recommend Canine Moxy!

My husband and I attended orientation and it was very informative. We recently went to our first group class this past weekend. Kris was so helpful and patient. He was great with our German shepherd, Raven. And we have been using what was taught to us at home and it’s really helping! We will continue going to class and I would recommend Canine Moxy for others who need some guidance on training their pups. This guy knows what he’s doing 👍

Kris is phenomenal. So engages with his customers and really makes you feel like it's a personal class even in group sessions. I've owned several dogs in my life and have always done okay training on my own. And most trainers at some point I lose faith in. Not Kris his homework to work on a problem you can see the start of change almost immediately. He's available for questions between classes if needed too. They also make these really cool custom hands free leashes. Materials are high quality and the clasps are unique and so much better than the average leash. As a bigger girl I've struggled to find a hands free leash Kris made one that fit me. And walks are great with both our dogs. Cannot say enough nice things. If you need a dog trainer for anything even working on missed socializing issues like our older big girl he has a plan. I've seen other customers talk about how uncomfortable their dogs were in the world before Kris and how he's changed things for the better. And he's done that with the goal of making your dog feel safe not just to make your life easier. He's also very good about thinking outside the box. Our new corgi puppy is very independent and cares much less about what we want. Every weird we don't know what to do situation he comes up with a solution I wouldn't have thought of. Highly recommend cannot say enough nice things

Kris is a true dog whisperer, he really understands your dog specific needs and behavior so that they are the perfect dog specifically for you and your lifestyle. Just after one single training our seven month old puppy is like a completely different dog. She is so calm, I am thoroughly enjoying our walks more, and she picked it up so fast thanks to Kris’ orientation first and then our in person training. We can’t wait to see how far Luna can go with Kris’ help. Thank you so much! You’ve changed our lives!
