Happy Hound requires new customers to pay $80 for a first-day assessment. To be fair, they were transparent about the cost, and my dog did appear to be treated well during her time there. Their facilities are clean. Offering webcam access is a nice touch. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to poor communication from staff and the company’s rigid, inflexible policies.\n\nI was told the $80 assessment fee would be applied as a credit toward my dog’s first daycare day, so I scheduled the assessment accordingly. However, the only appointment time I was offered was 3:00pm, which meant my dog could only stay for approximately 2–2.5 hours before closing. I would have gladly dropped her off first thing in the morning to receive the full value of what I had already paid, but that option was not made available.\n\nWhen I asked whether the unused portion of the $80 credit could be applied toward a future full daycare day, I was told no, and the staff made it clear there would be no exception or attempt to make the situation right — even though the shortened day was entirely due to their scheduling limitations, NOT mine.\n\nUltimately, this came down to poor communication and policy rigidity. First impressions matter, and I was actively looking for a long-term daycare provider and fully prepared to pay their $775/month rate, but I am not comfortable committing to a business that responds to a reasonable request with a dismissive “too bad, that’s our policy” attitude.

Archer loves it here! He’s a regular in Big Hound Town and gets so excited every time we drive up. He seems to really like all the employees as well and I love that we can watch him interact with dogs and staff on the Webcams. We started him here when he was four months old and they helped him transition from little to big keeping in mind the safety of all of the dogs in their care.

Eris came for an at home training session to give me some pointers about my anxious pups. I was feeling at my wit’s end and she gave me so much great practical and clear advice and the most important part was her patience and confidence that my pups will get there. I’d be happy to work with her again and again!

We are no longer bringing our dog to Happy Hound due to three incidents involving the care of our sweet girl.\n\nWhen she was 4 months old, our puppy was not properly fed. Three staff members told me she had received lunch and dinner, but after multiple follow-ups, I found out she was given a second breakfast and lunch instead. A manager admitted the staff had been “lazy”.\n\nI saw on the live camera that a handler dropped a tissue, which our puppy grabbed. He responded by pushing her to the ground with force, ripping the tissue from her mouth, and waving it in her face before discarding it. Management claimed he was being “assertive”, but the footage looked aggressive.\n\nMost recently, at 8 months old and 15 pounds, our puppy was moved from Little Hound Town to Big Hound Town without our consent. I was told she was placed there because she was trying to play with other dogs - not aggressive, just playful. I was also told she had been moved to Lounge Around Town instead, but when I followed up, I was informed that room wasn’t even open that day. Our puppy was visibly unhappy on camera, and the placement was not appropriate or honestly communicated.\n\nShe often came home exhausted and overstimulated. At first, we thought it might just be an adjustment period, but over time it became clear that she was not happy there — and based on what we saw on the live feeds, many of the dogs didn’t seem to be either.\n\nWe’ve chosen to end our dog’s care at Happy Hound. After the owner, Suzanne’s dismissive responses and inability to hold accountability, I hope management takes this review seriously, not to defend themselves, but to reflect deeply and make necessary changes - for their clients but most importantly, for the beloved dogs in their care.

I have been taking my dog here since May and the staff is awesome. Very friendly and will let you know if anything is going on with your pup that needs attention. I drop of my pup and I feel comfortable and not worried. I was very skeptical of bringing my dog at first because he has never been to a day care, but it turns out my dog loved it and it relived my stress from knowing he is not home alone while I am at work.\n\nI would recommend Happy Hound. I would like to thank the staff for being great to me and my sweet boy Benteley.
