I’ve adopted 4 animals from the Denver animal shelter, 2 ferrets, a cat and a dog, and each time the process was super informative but still quick. You can tell the volunteers here know what they’re talking about, and they make sure to let you know if any potential issues you’ll be dealing with in the future after adopting the animal. Everyone here is super kind and welcoming and this is the place I recommend everyone goes when searching for a new furry friend. I somehow managed to find the four sweetest animals I’ve ever had at this shelter. Adopt, don’t shop! It’s worth it

Our experience has been great. The price we paid included neuter and microchip. Only downside is that they only allow you to visit 2 animals a day. This boy came home to us and we have been very pleased with the experience.

Corporal Swanson has failed to professionally and adequately communicate with my husband and I regarding a small black Pomeranian who had broken legs. Due to my intervention, Xochitl received the necessary care after I discovered the dog and promptly took her to an animal hospital. Corporal neglected to provide us with any explanation of the process and disregarded our text messages, emails, and phone calls.\n\nMy husband and I offered to pay for her surgery and any of her medical care that she needed, as I told Corporal that I had $6,000 set aside, specifically for that, and that my husband would match that. my husband and I were willing to invest $12,000 so that Xochitl could get the care that she needed since our son could not afford it.\n\nWe are perplexed by Corporal’s inability to provide us with comprehensive information and explanations about the dog’s condition, which we entrusted to our son. After several weeks of Corporal’s complete disregard for our concerns, he finally responded to a text message informing us that Xochitl had made a full recovery and was doing well. We are confident that he would have refrained from disclosing this information had we not reached out to him, again. We are overjoyed that she has made a full recovery, as we had initially been informed that her chances of survival were only 80%.\n\nCorporal’s lack of compassion and empathy for my husband and I is deeply concerning, and we are profoundly distressed by his handling of the situation with us. He was not forthright!\n\nXochitl is the sister of our dog, and we relocated both of them from Florida.\n\nWe are deeply disappointed by Corporal’s cowardice and irresponsible handling of this situation. I have contacted two directors of the Denver Animal Shelter, in person, who assured me that they would contact me. However, they have not responded. I have a video recording of my conversation with the directors, Josh and Melanie, of the Denver Animal Shelter.\n\nSuch customer service is unacceptable. We expressed that we wanted to adopt that dog; and the directors told me that I was speaking to the right people and that they would reach out to me soon and never did.\n\nWe were not anticipating being able to adopt Xochitl, but they could’ve at least had the decency to let us know, without keeping us in the dark.\n\nMost importantly, we are so happy that Xochitl made and full recovery and is doing well, but the way that Corporal, Josh and Melanie handled the situation is unacceptable!!!!

We had a great experience adopting our new dog. They had a great Christmas week special that made it possible for our family. We were impressed by the facility, the friendly, helpful volunteer staff and of course finding the gentle sweetheart we had been looking for.

The Denver Animal Shelter is an exceptional facility! They are a dedicated team who take the extra time to make sure that the special animals are taken care of with the best veterinary services and matching animals to the right families. I especially appreciated the help that Aiden and his team provided in taking care of my new puppy!! I highly recommend them. Lori M
